The Tone toolbar sliders enable quick access to Equalizer settings via a simplified three band equalizer. Changes made to these three sliders are interpolated into Neutrino’s true 10 band equalizer, which updates in real-time.
The Equalizer presets menu can be accessed by right/ctrl-clicking on the Tone sliders.

Equalize provides a 10-band graphic equalizer to allow you to fine-tune the ‘tone’ of the sound output, to emphasise specific frequency ranges and de-emphasise others by up to +/- 12 db.
A range of ‘factory’ presets (modeled on those provided by iTunes) are available, as is the ability to define new presets. Custom equalizer settings are also automatically saved and restored across successive launches, even if no specific preset has been defined for those settings.
Note that Equalize presets are stored in a private internal format rather than as AU preset files, and will not appear in other AU host applications supporting the AUPreset API.
![]() | When Global mode is switched on the current Equalize settings will apply for all songs. |
![]() | When Global mode is switched off, as it is by default, Equalize settings will be saved along with the current track. Whenever this track is played, the saved Equalize settings will be applied. |
Note that only per-track settings for Neutrino Playlist items are saved persistently across sessions. Conversely, settings for iTunes and Watched Folder items are only stored until Neutrino is quit.
![]() | When a track is played in QuickTime mode, for example a movie or a protected file (generally an m4p file purchased through the iTunes store), the Equalize controls (apart from Bass and Treble) will become inactive. |
