Stop Press 2006 February - we are now making available CD3WD as 24 separate downloads. Therefore the index.htm list of contents which before was automatically installed is no longer installed with each of these 24 downloads. Therefore into directory c:\cd3wd_37\CD3WD copy the CDLIST.HTM file and rename it after copying as INDEX.HTM. Thanks and sorry for inconvenience...
CD3WD_38

http://www.cd3wd.com - issued 20 February 2006

This file is cd.iso - insert a blank CD in your drive and windows should offer to cut cd.iso onto the cd... Possibly better to download and/or install Nero CD burning software, which will recognize the *.iso extension...
Welcome to CD3WD_38 - CD 3rd World version 3.8 - technical documents on agriculture, health, water and sanitation, woodwork, metalwork, electrical trades, small and medium industries, and many other subjects - 800+ documents and books in Html, Gif, Jpg, and Pdf file formats which are stored on this CD as 2 off .ZIP files and have to be unzipped onto your hard disc before you can view them. They are stored as 2 zip files instead of 1 since such a single large zip file takes too long for you to unzip...We stored them as zip files for the following reasons

- easier for CD copying process to ensure that the copy is perfect
- faster for the CD copying process also
- faster to copy onto your hard drive
- we got more on one CD by the zipping compression process
- the large size and low cost of most hard drives these days means that this option is now economically and logistically atractive

Check out the List of Contents if you want before installing onto your hard disc. There are 66,911 files to be unzipped - that will take 20 to 30 minutes, and takes only about 990 Megabytes (0.99 gigabytes) on your hard drive.

Double click on each of the ZIP files CD3WD361.ZIP and CD3WD362.ZIP in turn (or right click and choose EXTRACT TO) . Choose the same destination for each and select the option to overwrite files without prompting. The destination may just be the drive letter, e.g. C:\ - if you choose that then the system will unzip to C:\CD3WD_36 and can be accessed by clicking on C:\CD3WD_36\INDEX.HTM.

You can make a shortcut by right-clicking on that file C:\CD3WD_36\INDEX.HTM and using the option CREATE SHORTCUT; then drag that shortcut out to your desktop. Then start the system by double-clicking on that shortcut...

Note that we include on this disc for windows users 2 zip/unzip utilities - both work equally well, but the Ultimzip does not time-expire and require payment, as does the winzip; also Adobe Acrobat Reader, which is necessary to read the .pdf files as which some of the 800+ documents are stored; also Netscape Communicator version 4.7 browser for any windows users who do not have a browser installed (that is very unlikely, and also we apologise for having a relatively old version of this browser on this CD - a question of logistics at the time of mastering the content). Unix and linux users - please if necessary locate and install the necessary versions of zip/unzip, Adobe Acrobat, and browser - thank you....

For security considerations, apart from the files in ADOBE, ULTIMZIP, NETBROW and WINZIP, there are no .EXE or .COM files on this CD, even and especially inside the 2 large ZIP files. And many users will already have adobe and zip utilities on their PCs and therefore will not need to access any .exe file from this CD....

Enjoy! and copy this CD unlimited and give, sell at cost, or sell for profit as many copies as you can - the intention of this CD is to contribute to 3rd World Development and the alleviation and/or elimination of poverty.

Note that this product is in no way compelete - for example there is nothing which I can find on tractor maintenance! - therefore the CD is and will be dynamic - we welcome your contributions, suggestions and comments
